NTC clinches 1st in Freedom of Information                         

CEBU CITY – The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) was awarded as the FOI Champion in the Agencies/ Bureaus/ Commissions/Councils Category by the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), through the Freedom of Information – Project Management Office (FOI-PMO).

Out of 186 NGAs on-board the electronic FOI portal and 7 nominees for FOI Champion, NTC was recognized best in the said category. The National Mapping and Resource Information Authority was the first runner up while the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board was the second runner up for the award.

NTC FOI Officer Ms. Divina N. Daquioag was also awarded a Special Citation Award, the FOI Program Director’s Award and Grace Under Pressure Award for being one among the seven (7) Best FOI Officers from a field of 4,322 FOI Officers designated across various government agencies.

Receiving the award from PCOO Undersecretary Kristian R. Ablan, were Ms. Divina N. Daquioag, NTC FOI Officer, Atty. Ricardo Casimiro, II of NTC Region 9, Atty. Alan Felix Macaraya, Jr. of NTC Region 7, Engr. Nelson C. Daquioag, OIC Director of NTC Region 2, and Ms. Sophia Lynn Lumantod, OIC Director of NTC Region 7.

In his acceptance message, NTC Commissioner Cordoba assured that the Commission will continue to abide by the principles of the FOI Program implementation and constantly strive to render transparent, fast and reliable public service to the Filipino people. He also mentioned that the NTC will continue supporting the passing of the FOI Bill currently pending in Congress.
